Dick Cepek Sponsors Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain

26 Jul 2017 0 James Mason

The Bassmaster Elite Series visits upstate New York for the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain presented by Dick Cepek Tires & Wheels July 27-30. As the season winds down, only two competitions remain until the top 50 compete in the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year (AOY) Championship on Minnesota’s Mille Lacs Lake in September.

The last time the Elite Series visited Lake Champlain was 10 years ago when Alabama’s Tim Horton won with a four-day total of 83 pounds, 10 ounces. Forming a border between northeastern New York and Vermont, the massive lake stretches approximately 125 miles in length, 14 miles at its widest and boasts a max depth of 400 feet.

Following the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain presented by Dick Cepek Tires & Wheels, the 109 elite anglers have one final opportunity to earn Bassmaster Angler of the Year points at Michigan’s Lake St. Clair before the top 50 are awarded invitations to the Bassmaster AOY Championship.

Currently Brandon Palanuik leads in points with 621, followed by Casey Ashley with 613 points. Kevin VanDam rounds out the top three with 604 points.

“It’s been exciting to watch the world’s best bass fishermen compete across the country this Bassmaster Elite season,” said Ken Warner, Vice President of Marketing for Dick Cepek. “The final events of the year always bring out the fiercest competition in these top anglers. Dick Cepek Tires & Wheels is proud to sponsor the tournament at Lake Champlain, and we look forward to watching Team Dick Cepek compete.”

In addition to sponsoring the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Champlain, Dick Cepek also awards the Rolling Forward Award to the angler with the greatest improvement, measured in gains in Toyota Angler of the Year Points, from tournament to tournament, fueling the passion of anglers throughout the field.
